Ectothermic

In biology, an organism is called ectothermic if it lacks an internal mechanism for regulating body heat.[1] Thus ectothermic organisms must gain body heat through sunlight such as by sun basking. The misnomer "cold blooded" means ectothermic. The most well-known ectothermic organisms are amphibians and reptiles.
