Fiber optics

Fiber optics are a physical medium that uses glass or plastic threads to transmit light. A fiber optic cable consists of a bundle of these threads, each capable of transmitting electric signals into light waves.[1]
Due to the makeup of fiber optic cables being able to refract light, information is sent quicker than the predecessing copper cables.
