National Health Service

Template:Stub The National Health Service (NHS) is a free, national healthcare service in the United Kingdom. This ensures that everyone is able to be treated, no matter their individual wealth or means. The NHS is funded by the government out of general taxation. During the time that Edward Heath was Prime Minister, it was sometimes punningly referred to as the "Nasty Heath" (as in John Lennon's book A Spaniard in the Works).
