Gift

A gift is an item which is transferred to a new owner without expectation of payment. The person receiving a true gift has not requested it.
There are certain holidays where gift giving is expected , such as birthdays and Christmas (or other religious holiday) and requests or hints are common.
Some dumb people in advertising use the tautonym "free gift." Like you'd ever have to freaking pay for one.
