Cider

Cider is a fermented alcoholic drink made from apples. There are some varieties of sparkling cider that are about the same strength as beer, but other varieties are much stronger and thicker, especially the variety known as 'scrumpy'. South-west England is famous for its cider, and many villages hold anual cider festivals. If the drink is made with pears rather than apples, it is known as 'perry'.
