Douglas MacArthur

General Douglas MacArthur (1880-1964) was one of the greatest military strategists in World War II. He was general for the United States on the Pacific front, and he was much loved by the Philippino people. After World War II he presided over the rebuilding of Japan. Before he retreated from the Philippines, he promised the people of Manila that he would come back and conquer the Japenese.
