Henry Clay

Henry Clay was a prominent United States Congressman representing the state of Kentucky. He is often referred to as the "Great Compromiser" for his work on the Great Compromise, Missouri Compromise, and Compromise of 1850. Clay served as Speaker of the House, Secretary of State, and Senator during his lifetime. Clay is also noted for his three unsuccessful presidential campaigns.
