The Life of Others (Original title: Das Leben der Anderen) is a German movie from 2006, directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck. Following a couple of artists, the drama shows the cultural scene of East Berlin, where agents of the Stasi (Staatssicherheit, literally security of the state, the secret service of the GDR) pervaded everyday life.
The movie won several international awards, including the 2007 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
