Utrecht

Utrecht is a city of the central Netherlands, in the province of Utrecht. It is the seat of a bishopric and is a major communications hub and rail centre. With a population of 290,000, it is the fourth largest city in the Netherlands.
The city is best known as the site of lengthy peace negotiations to end the Wars of Spanish Succession in the 18th century. The resulting peace, called the Treaty of Utrecht, was signed in April of 1713.
