Osama Bin Laden is a Saudi Arabian entrepreneur and the leader of al Qaeda, a worldwide terrorist group likely responsible for September 11, 2001 attacks and some other terrorist attacks on Americans in the 1990s.
He was protected by the Taliban until the American invasion of Afghanistan after the 9-11 attacks drove him into hiding.
Previous to that Osama had inherited great wealth via U.S. petro-dollars recycled through his father's construction company.
During the 1980s insurgency against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan the CIA helped to train and arm bin Laden's mujahideen [1].
