Sharron Angle
Sharron Angle (born July 26, 1949 in Klamath Falls, Oregon) is the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate to challenge Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in the 2010 election. She served as a member of the Nevada General Assembly from 1999 through 2007. She is also a member of the National Rifle Association and the National Right to Life Committee.
Angle attended Reno public schools and graduated the University of Nevada with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She went on to become a substitute teacher, taught art courses at Western Nevada Community College and co-founded and administrated a twenty-four student Christian school. After her election in 1998, Angle rose to become Minority Whip in the Nevada Legislature. She narrowly lost a campaign for the Republican nomination for Congress to Nevada Secretary of State Dean Heller by just 428 votes.
Angle's candidacy for Senate surged after the endorsement from the Tea party Express, and defeated former State Senator Sue Lowden and businessman Danny Tarkanian in the Republican primary.
