According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Varicella, also known as chickenpox, is "an acute contagious disease characterized by papular and vesicular lesions."[1] In english that means that it causes small red pock marks or blisters. These pock marks itch which can lead to scratching and scaring.
