Mark Strand

Mark Strand (born 1934) is a Canadian-born American poet.
He has been awarded the Bollingen Prize, three grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, a National Institute of Arts and Letters Award, the 1974 Edgar Allen Poe Prize from The Academy of American Poets, and a Rockefeller Foundation award; along with fellowships from The Academy of American Poets, the MacArthur Foundation, and the Ingram Merrill Foundation.[1]
Strand also served as Poet Laureate of the United States in 1990-1991.[2]
