Checkuser is a tool which enables you to find out what IP address (computer connection) a user is editing from, and see if any other users have edited from that IP address so you can detect sockpuppets which are not allowed at Conservapedia. Here is how to use it:

  1. Place the name of the user you are interested in in the box which says "User:". Then click the button that says "Get IPs" directly below it.
  2. Once you have done this, a list of IP addresses (in the syntax 123.456.78.9, or some similar pattern of numbers) should show up directly below the three boxes. The IP addresses should be clickable.
  3. If you click the IP address, it will automatically show up in the box entitled "IP:". From there, click "Get users" to find out what other users have been editing from the same IP address; a list should show up where the IP addresses did earlier. If you click "Get edits", a list of all the edits made from that IP address should show up.
  4. The "reason" box at the top of the page is purely voluntary.
  5. If there are an unusually large number of users editing from one IP address, be wary; it may be a proxy IP, or one used by several people. If you've ever worked at a company, and experienced slow internet connections, this is why; all of the computers in that company may have been connecting to the internet via one IP address.
