Hebrides

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Eyupdutch (Talk | contribs) at 12:24, April 2, 2007. It may differ significantly from current revision.

The Hebridies are an archipelago of islands off the North West Coast of Scotland, in the United Kingdom. They are one of the last areas where the Gaelic language is spoken. They are generally subdivided into the Inner Hebrides, and Outer Hebrides. (Also known as the Western Isles.) Forced displacement of communities during the Highland Clearences by the British nobility led to the emigigration of many Hebrideans to the Americas.
