Rain is a form of precipitation (see also snow), part of the hydrological cycle.

Rain is formed when water vapor condenses within clouds on minute particles of dust or sea salt.[Citation Needed] As the small droplets merge, they become too heavy to remain suspended in the cloud and fall to the surface as rain.[Citation Needed]
