Peter Anthony DeFazio (born May 27, 1947 in Needham, Massachusetts) currently serves as the Democratic U.S. Representative from Oregon's 4th congressional district. Previously he served as a county commissioner in Lane County, Oregon.
DeFazio has a reputation as one of the most Progressive members of Congress. He voted against President Obama's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009; "I couldn't justify borrowing money for tax cuts." In November 2009, DeFazio called for the resignations of Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and White House economic adviser Larry Summers. [1]
