Radiosity is a global illumination algorithm based on the finite element method for simulating the transport of light in a 3-dimensional scene as formulated by the Rendering equation. Radiosity takes into account the bouncing of light across diffuse surfaces, thus it's able to generate images much more realistic than ones generated using algorithms that only calculate direct illuminations.
