Top Gear is a UK television series. Originally a rather conventional car review show, it was relaunched as a more comedic and over the top show in the early 2000s. Extremely popular in the UK, the appeal of the show tends to rely on the interplay between the three presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May and bizarre stunts and challenges. The cars featured tend to be powerful sports and performance cars rather than affordable cars bought by ordinary people. The show has been criticised for emphasising power, speed and performance over safety, fuel economy and environmental concerns.
