Oliver!

Oliver! is a musical, written by Lionel Bart, based on the Charles Dickens novel, Oliver Twist.
The first word of spoken dialogue is, "Please, sir, I want some more."
Comparison with the novel
The plot is considerably simplified, with many of the characters losing much of their original depth (such as Fagin, who becomes considerably more comedic in the musical and loses much of his original darker side.) Some characters, such as Oliver's brother Monks, are removed entirely.
In 2009, a new version of the show was performed, with famous comic actor Rowan Atkinson as Fagin, and with the roles of Nancy and Oliver chosen as part of a reality television programme.
