Taj Mahal

Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal in A.D. 1631-1650 in memory of his beloved wife Queen Mumtaz Mahal, who died in child birth. It is Islamic in origin.
The stunningly beautiful Taj Mahal is an enormous tomb built of pure white marble. Building it required the labor of 20,000 workers. Jahan was so overwhelmed with its beauty, and so cruel to its workers, that he had their hands cut off and were blinded by hot irons so they would never build another one like it![Citation Needed] Jahan also constructed the "Red Fort," a red-sandstone palace and the "Peacock Throne," encrusted with thousands of gems.
