Portal is a word in the english langauge meaning "doorway, opening or aperture for people to enter".[1]
Etymology
The origins of the word Portal was from the french word "porte" meaning door.
Usage Today
Today portal is generally used as a architectural term as a grand entrance, or simply any door.
