Prudhoe

A former mining town in the Tyne Valley, north east England, Prudhoe is famed for demolition contractors Thompsons of Prudhoe. Former residents included acting couple Tim Healy and Denise Welch. Ruth Archer, of the long-running BBC radio soap opera 'The Archers', hailed from Prudhoe.
