Nirvana fallacy

The Nirvana fallacy is the fallacy of comparing one alternative as it would exist in the real world with another alternative as it would exist only in theory or in idealized form.[1] As an example, liberals compare Christianity as actually practiced with Islam as it exists only on paper. The Nirvana fallacy is similar, but not identical, to the perfect-solution fallacy.
