HMAS AE2 was an E Class submarine of the Royal Australian Navy. It was originally built in the UK and travelled out to Australia in company with its sister ship HMAS AE1. In 1915, captained by Lieutenant Commander Henry Hugh Gordon Dacre Stoker D.S.O., R.N., AE2 was the first submarine to successfully penetrate the Dardanelles and enter the Sea of Marmara, where she was scuttled, during the ill fated allied campaign on the Gallipoli peninsula in Turkey.
After six days in the Sea of Marmara she was sunk by the Turks and her crew captured.
