The Cherry Orchard (Russian: Вишнëвый сад) is the most famous play by Russian writer Anton Chekhov. It was first performed in 1904 at the Moscow Art Theatre. Its climatic anti-climax is much studied, with people today still disagreeing about whether its classification is that of a tragedy or comedy.
