Ziggurat

A Ziggurat is a stepped "mountain" with a temple on the top. Ziggurats look like a truncated pyramid with layers that form steps. They were first built in Mesopotamia, but are also found in may other parts of the world. The Native peoples of South America invented an built ziggurats that are strikingly similar to those of the Middle East, even though the two cultures never communicated with eachother.
