Pax Romana literally means Roman peace; this was the period from 27 B.C. to A. D. 108. During this period there were âfive good emperorsâ Nerva, Trajan, Hadrian, Antoninus Pius and Marcus Aurelius. These emperors did many good things, but most of them still persecuted Christians.
5. Discuss Hannibal or Attila the Hun.
At a young age, Hannibal swore on the altar of a Carthaginian god, that he would fight Rome as long as he lived. Carthage had been preparing for a strike against room and Hannibal was at the lead. Hannibal lead they Carthaginian army into what is now Spain. Marching towards Rome in a maneuver to flank it, they had but one obstacle, the Italian Alps. Unlike Rome predicted, Hannibal lead 30,000 men and an amount of elephants over the Alps and into Italy. As soon as the Romans heard of this, they sent an army to fight the Carthageians. This army was crushed by Hannibal and some Gaulic troops that joined with him. The Romans continued to be defeated until they appointed Fabius as their general. Fabius had a new tactic to defeat of Hannibal. This new tactic was skirmishing behind Hannibalâs forces, and cutting off his supplies. This tactic worked for a short while until Fabiusâs time of office was over. Now there two new councils overseeing the army who would not utilize âFabian policyâ and challenged Hannibal in a pitched battle. The Roman army was now destroyed and people of Rome began to fear that Hannibal would attack the city. Hannibal had however gone to the city of Capua where the luxuries are so great that the Carthageian army grew fat and lazy and could no longer fight well.

H2. Which was more influential, the Roman law or the Roman legions?
I think that the roman legions were more influential than Roman law. This conclusion is due to the fact that in history a lone law is useless when there is nothing to enforce it. I believe what made the Roman law so influential was not the laws themselves the fear of the Roman legions.
