A roast is an event in which a person takes comedic jibes, insults, and tributes, with the implication that the person being "roasted" (the roastee) can take the jokes in good humor. Some people who are roasted think it is a great honor and a tribute. The person who heads the roast is called the "roastmaster" and the people roasting the roastee are called "roasters".

Two famous televised celebrity roast events in the United States are The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast and the Comedy Central Roast.
