Red state

A red state is a state whose voters are generally conservative and who cast votes for the Republican Party in elections. Red states are noted for a commitment to conservative Christian morality in voting, a rejection of abortion and gay rights, and wanting to pay low taxes. Red states are generally found in the south and midwest United States.
They are known as "red states" because, during elections, major news networks color them red when it is confirmed that they have voted for a Republican president.
