Heartland Institute

The Heartland Institute is a not-for-profit institution based in Chicago. It was founded in 1984 by David Padden and Joseph Best with the mission "to discover and promote free-market solutions to social and economic problems". In addition to being a free market advocate, the institute has also worked to fight junk science, such as the idea of man-made global warming and the tenuous link between passive smoking and health risks.[1]
