Jaundice

Jaundice is yellowing of the skin, eyes and mucous membranes.

This condition can be a symptom of hepatitis infection, an increase in the breakdown of red blood cells (such as malaria) or an inability to drain bile from the biliary system, or having too much [[bilirubin] in the bloodstream.

Jaundice is a common disease affecting infants and early diagnosis is needed to cure the disease.

Jaundice symptoms are:

     Yellow colouration of the tongue, eyes and skin
   
     There is a pale tinge seen in the urine
            
     Bitter taste felt in mouth
   
     Itching sensation felt in the skin
   
     The stools would be foul-smelling and also pale
   
     The tongue also turns pale or yellowish and is also referred to as ‘ furry tongue’
   
     People feel unusually lethargic
