The Amplified Bible is an English translation published in 1965 that expands and updates the American Standard Version of 1901.
The Amplified Bible is rarely used today. It uses a unique system of parenthetical references to synonyms to "amplify" translational nuances and also to add its own explanation and interpretation. Its publisher later produced the New American Standard Bible and promoted it instead.
Only one conservative ministry is known to use this version: Joyce Meyer of Missouri.
