Assembly line

An assembly line is a the name for a process whereby many workers participate in the manufacture of a complex good. Instead of each worker assembling a unit from start to finish, each worker assembles an individual part which are then all assembled together towards the end of the line. For example, in automobile manufacturing, a single worker (or group of workers) may be responsible solely for a single engine part though they themselves may never work on a complete engine, or indeed a complete automobile.
