COINTELPRO, officially the COunter INTELligence PROgram, is an illegal program by the FBI to subvert and disrupt domestic political organizations in the United States[1][2] COINTELPRO still exists into the present day.

The existence of COINTELPRO became publicly known when an office in Media, Pennsylvania was broken into by a group called the Citizens' Commission to Investigate the FBI.[3]

Some of the groups targeted include the Weathermen and the Black Panther Party.
