'''Images''', which consist of photographs, paintings, and drawings, are uploaded to [[Conservapedia ]] daily. They fall into two main categories: those that are copyrighted, or those which are not. Restrictions have to apply to all of them. ==Layout within the articles======Lead image====The first image to consider is the lead image,which is the picture of which the article is about. If the article is about Clara Barton, then the lead image must be Clara Barton, and no one else. The size of this image must be no larger than 300px; if the image is placed within an infobox, then it must be no larger than 290px, considering that the width of the infobox is set at 300px. ====Secondary images====These are images used to illustrate the remainder of the article. They must match the subject paragraph; if for example the paragraph is about the digging of the Panama Canal in 1906, then the image must show the actual digging during that particular time. Secondary images also must be no larger than 200px, and be accompanied by a caption describing it. ====Panoramic images====There are those images which were made wider by the original photographer, such as found at the bottom of the article on [[Atlantis]]. A panoramic can be used here, provided it is no wider than 800px with a vertical height of 100px, and centered on the page. ==Crediting==Whether copyrighted or not, all images are to be properly credited to their creator or owner, whether the image was made last week, last year, or a century or more ago. The entry immediately below each image shall be the following:*Name of the work (e.g. ''Mona Lisa''; ''Creation of Adam on the Sistine Chapel''; ''American Gothic'', etc.)*Author/creator of the work (Leonardo da Vinci; Michaelangelo Buonarroti; Grant Wood, etc.)*Copyright owner (if not the actual creator of the work, such as a film company)*Year created*Location of the work (Louvre Museum, Paris, France; National Archives, Washington D.C., etc.)The source for the image shall be placed within the page, either below the entry or with one of the following tags; the URL of the webpage or a book source (to include name, author, publisher, and date of publication).
==Copyrighted Images==
To be considered "fair use", you have to have a logical justification for uploading the image to Conservapedia. If the picture is of a German shepherd dog, for example, the image should go in that article only and nowhere else.
====Fair Use tag===={{Fair use applies generally to news stories or criticism. |source = <source> |author = <author> |reasoning = <reason> |usableonuserpage = In most cases it is best to ask permission from the copyright owner; if they say no |usernotes = <optional:user notes>}}, then don't upload it.
==Non-copyrighted Images==These images are not copyrighted for the following reasons:*They were created prior to January 1923, and are ineligible for copyright under U.S. law;*They were willfully released into the public domain by the creator/owner of the image;*The copyright the owners once held has been allowed to lapse, releasing the image into the public domain;*They are the product of the U.S. Government.To upload and use these images in the articles, you still must identify the name of the image or the subject of it, the place where the image was created, the date of the image creation, and the name of the person who created it. Just because they are public domain does not absolve you of this responsibility. Use the appropriate license tag below. '''If in doubt about the status of an image, assume it is copyrighted until proved otherwise.''' ==US Government Tags==Tag for all images created by anyone in an official capacity in any United States governmental agency not related to the Department of Defense, the United States Armed Forces, or the United States Coast Guard. {| styleclass="width: 100%; background:transparent; border: 2px solid #000099;wikitable" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="1"!colspan=2 style="width: 100%; text-align: center; background-color:lightblue; "|'''Copyright Details'''
