Corruption is, in Politics and Business, the subversion of lawful activities for self-gain.
In Morality, it refers to the subversion of moral principle for ulterior motives.
Merriam-Webster definition:
- impairment of integrity, virtue, or moral principle : depravity
- decay, decomposition
- inducement to wrong by improper or unlawful means (as bribery)
