Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor (English: The Merry Wives of Windsor) is an opera in three acts by Carl Otto Nicolai to a German libretto by Salomon Hermann von Mosenthal. It is based on the play The Merry Wives of Windsor by William Shakespeare and its first performance was in 1849 at the Royal Opera House in Berlin.
