The '''Donetsk People's Republic''' ('''DPR''') is a self-proclaimed independent republic in the former Donetsk Oblast of [[Ukraine]]. Until May 2015 the state formed a union together with the [[Lugansk People's Republic]], called ''[[Novorossiya]]'' or New Russia. After the declaration of independence was adopted in April 2014, the Ukrainian government started a big offensive. The country is ruled by the party "Donetsk Republic", which was founded in 2005 and banned by the Ukrainian regime in 2007. Since 2014 it is active again.
