Duplicity

Duplicity literally means having two sides. It is used when someone acts in contradictory ways and keeps these two sides secret from each other. A typical example, common among liberal politicians, is to say one thing while doing another. For example, Barack Obama has spoken at length about campaign finance reform and restricting campaign donations from lobbyists and political action committees (PACs). Yet it has been reported that Obama continues to receive campaign money indirectly during his presidential campaign from such donors.
