E.V.O.: Search for Eden is a side-scrolling platform video game developed by Almanic and published by Enix in 1992 for the Super Nintendo. The promotes Darwinism to young children.

Gameplay

The main character is an animal who starts as a fish and eventually evolves into an amphibian, then to a dinosaur and then the player may choose to evolve to a bird or to a mammal (and possibly a human). The player may also choose to evolve parts of his body such as his neck or jaw, body size, etc. primarily by killing other animals (in the game's context, this includes humans and other hominids) and then eating their flesh which earns him "Evolution points" that are used to evolve.

Story

The story recounts the history of evolution of life on the planet Earth in which the living beings are in a competition to survive and evolve, as only the greatest species will be allowed entrance to the "Garden of Eden" as Gaia's partner, the planet's Goddess, and dominate the earth. Throughout the game the player finds creatures that haven't evolved with the same rhythm as the other species and thus are interrupting the natural course of evolution, the player must then kill them to restore the evolutionary process to normality. It is later found out that the creatures' development was enhanced by aliens from the planet Mars.
