Amebiasis is a disease caused by the one-celled parasite Entamoeba histolytica.

Entamoeba histolytica is a one celled species of parasitic protozoa that causes entamoebiasis and amebic dysentery.^[1] Entamoeba histolytica infects predominantly humans and primates.^[2] Amebiasis is one of the illnesses associated with gay bowel syndrome.
