Faith healing is the practice of some religious and spiritual groups of choosing to pray for the recovery of the ill or injured. The term is most commonly associated with the more controversial practice of additionally forgoing medical care in favor of prayer or other religious practice. The legality of choosing faith healing and failing to get medical care for a child is under contention, with some individuals arguing that when medical care is restricted by their faith, they should not be obligated to violate the rules of their religion and obtain it for their child. There have been several cases, however, wherein parents who engaged in this practice were convicted of a crime.[1]
