Feminism is the philosophy that women deserve to have rights equal to those of men. This directly contradicts the bible. Most feminist writing today concerns issues like abortion, domestic violence, rape, maternity leave, lesbian rights, child custody, and comparable worth.

The University of Oklahoma offers "There are many definitions of what a feminist is--the simplest and probably the best is what is listed in most dictionaries—'a person who believes in the full equality of women and men.' This means anyone--male or female--who supports this idea can be a feminist. The goal of feminism is equality--and that means both that women do what men have done (be fire fighters and corporate executives) and that men do what women have done (be stay-at-home fathers and secretaries)." [1]

God's intentions for the role of women is demonstrated in these quotes from the Bible: "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

"Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety." -- I Tim. 2:9-15.

Not all women are feminists. Several examples are Phyllis Schlafly, who opposed the Equal Rights Amendment in the 1960s, and Dr. Laura Schlessinger, who says that her purpose is “to deal in truths and values about life, love, death, responsibilities, character, religion and general, everyday behavior.”. [1]

"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians." - 1992 Iowa fundraising letter opposing a state equal-rights amendment ("Equal Rights Initiative in Iowa Attacked", Washington Post, 23 August 1992); it is sometimes claimed that this statement appeared in Robertson's 1992 GOP convention speech, according to people like pat robinson this is the case(see also [2]
