GOES-18, (designated pre-launch as GOES-T), is a Meteorological Satellite operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that observes the weather above West Coast of the United States and the Pacific Ocean. The acronym "GOES" stands for Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites and is applied to weather satellites. The sattelite is currently scheduled to be launched in March of 2022 to replace "GOES-17" which was suffering from a malfunction.
