A gift is an item which is transferred to a new owner without expectation of payment. The person receiving a true gift has not requested it.

There are certain holidays where gift giving is expected , such as birthdays and Christmas (or other religious holiday) and requests or hints are common.

The gift of eternal salvation through accepting Jesus Christ as Savior, is available to each and every person willing to become a Christian. God gave His one and only Son Jesus, and Jesus gave his life, so that sinners may be cleansed and forgiven. John 3:16 states: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." This sacrifice is the greatest gift ever given in the history of the world.
