The Higgins boat, also referred to as LCVP, which means landing craft, vehicle, personnel, is an early amphibious boat designed for shuttling a platoon of soldiers to the shore. The Higgins boat proved vital during WWII at the landings on Normandy beach on D-Day.[1]
