'''Howard Fast''' (1914 - 2003) was a pro-[[Communist]] writer who was cited for [[contempt of Congress]] in 1946 for refusing to produce records of the Communist-dominated front organization cited on the [[Attorney General's list]] of [[subversive]] organizations known as the [[Joint Anti-Fascist Refugee Committee]]. He was convicted in Federal Court on July 16, 1947, and jailed following a [[Supreme Court]] decision upholding his conviction.
