Sir John Sparrow David Thompson (born at Halifax, November 10, 1845, died at Windsor Castle, December 12, 1894) was a Canadian lawyer, judge, and fourth Prime Minister of Canada from 1892 to 1894, after the resignation of Sir John Abbott. Thompson died only about an hour after being sworn into the Privy Council by Queen Victoria, leaving the Conservatives at a lack for courage and leadership. His most significant contribution during his tenure was the Criminal Code.[1]
