King Leopold II (1835-1909) was king of Belgium from 1865 up until his death. He is most known for his rule of terror over the Congo Free State (which is in Africa where modern day Democratic Republic of the Congo exists). He owned it privately and gained rubber and ivory from it, at the expense of its people, whom he forced to work, and often embarked on mass killings of.
